I have recorded the vocals to the Seven Nation Army track, with Charlotte Ward as vocalist. The microphone used was an MXL Genesis. This microphone was used because it is a versatile mix well suited to vocal recordings with a flat frequency response and high Sound Pressure Levels. This means the Genesis is a good microphone to record vocals with because the flat frequency response allows the microphone to pick up all frequencies evenly, and the high SPL means that the microphone can record both quiet and very loud performances.
Due to vocalist Charlotte Ward's personal preference for the Röde NT2A over the Genesis due to it sounding warmer and better suited to her voice, we used the NT2A for all vocal recordings after this.
