Inspirations for the album varied widely. The creativity of the album was heavily influenced by the 1966 Beach Boys album Pet Sounds(8), and other influences were as varied as Indian music and its instruments (most notably George’s Harrison’s use of the sitar on Within you Without You)(10), or even old circus shows (Mr. Kite! Was inspired by a 19th Century circus show poster which Lennon purchased in early 1967. Lennon claimed "Everything from the song is from that poster" – even the names of the people on the poster were kept in the song. Lennon was inspired for Good Morning Good Morning simply by a Kellogg’s cereal commercial. (8)
